Letter from the President

Dear Northern Nevada Association Members,
Camacho

Summer has arrived with high temperatures and thunderstorms! Staying hydrated is important to your health as well as making sure you're not the lightning rod. So carry a couple of water bottles in your car and don't stand under a tree in an electrical storm!

We had our annual membership drive in the form of a BBQ mixer at Rancho San Rafael Park. As you will recall, if you paid your membership dues, the Association provided the BBQ.

Members were able to set up information booths and hand out promotional items. This is different from our regular meetings in that only the lunch sponsor is allowed to make a presentation with promotional materials. This was a well-attended event with over 50 in attendance, so thank you to all who were able to make it and set up booths! The board with some volunteers shopped, set up, and cooked. The reason we have seen the growth and success of our organization is due to Board participation. Thank you board and to our members that also volunteered.

We also want to acknowledge our May lunch presentation by Joe Van Walraven from the Law Office of Van Walraven and Harris on product defect liability and investigation. We all must be aware that to prove a case one way or another can hinge on preservation of the evidence in a proper manner.

The June lunch presentation was by Jim McCurley of RGL Forensic Accountants on Employee Dishonesty and Fraud Investigation. Mr. McCurley shared his insights on fraud indicators and that checks and balances in any organization are worthwhile. Our sponsor was Almost Home Accommodations

The August lunch presentation was by Nevada Insurance Commissioner, Scott Kipper on fraud and regulations. Mr. Kipper shared his vision for the insurance industry in Nevada, stressing the important role of adjusters, and fielded questions. We hope to have Mr. Kipper return and address our Association again. Our sponsor was Guardian Environmental.
